Fleet management and telematics software development
Trakshym builds fleet management and telematics software for logistics, transport and field-service operators: GPS and CAN bus data ingestion, live tracking and geofencing, driver behavior scoring, maintenance alerts, dispatcher dashboards and driver apps. One team builds from vehicle data to mobile app, working remotely from India for clients worldwide.
What is fleet telematics software?
Telematics software collects data from vehicles (position from GPS, engine data from the CAN bus through OBD-II or J1939, plus sensor and driver events) and turns it into tracking, alerts and reports. A fleet management system adds the workflows on top: dispatch, maintenance, documents and compliance.
Edge processing matters in vehicles because coverage is patchy. The in-vehicle device buffers data when there is no signal, filters noise and detects events such as harsh braking locally, so the platform receives complete trips instead of gaps.
What does Trakshym build for fleet operators?
The data layer, the control-room views and the apps drivers carry, built as one system so a harsh-braking event and the coaching note about it live in the same record.
- 01
Live tracking and geofencing
Map views of every vehicle with trip history, stops and idle time, plus geofence entry and exit alerts per depot, site or customer.
- 02
Telematics data ingestion
Data from OBD-II and J1939 devices, aftermarket trackers and telematics-provider APIs brought into one vehicle data model.
- 03
Driver behavior scoring
Harsh braking, cornering, speeding and idling events rolled into distance-weighted scorecards that supervisors use for coaching.
- 04
Maintenance and vehicle health
Diagnostic trouble codes, odometer and engine hours drive service reminders and work orders before a breakdown.
- 05
Dispatch and routing
Job assignment, route planning against delivery windows and vehicle capacity, and ETA updates sent to customers.
- 06
Driver apps and compliance records
Mobile apps for jobs, proof of delivery and vehicle checks, with trip logs, documents and audit records kept for inspections.
How do we deliver fleet software?
We start with the data your vehicles already produce, prove it on a pilot group, then add workflows fleet-wide.
Fleet and data audit
Vehicle mix, installed devices, telematics providers, and the reports and decisions the operation depends on.
Data model and ingestion
One vehicle type end to end on live data: device or API ingestion, trip building and a tracking view.
Pilot with real vehicles
Dashboards, alerts and the driver app on a pilot group, with weekly demos and feedback from dispatchers and drivers.
Fleet rollout and support
Rollout by depot or region, integrations switched on, then ongoing support or handover to your team.

Standards and regulations we build to the requirements of
- FMCSA electronic logging devices (US): Hours-of-service records for US commercial vehicles. We integrate with registered ELD hardware rather than replace it.
What does fleet management software cost, and how long does it take?
It depends on how much you build versus integrate. We size it on a discovery call and agree a phased plan, usually starting with tracking and adding workflows after; no number before we know your vehicles and providers.
Vehicle and device mix
Light vehicles on OBD-II, heavy vehicles on J1939 and assets with trackers only each need their own data handling.
Build versus integrate
Reading an existing tracker platform's API is lighter than ingesting raw device data, but limits what you can see.
Apps and workflows
Dispatch, maintenance, driver apps and proof of delivery are separate modules; each adds screens, rules and testing.
Integrations and reporting
ERP, fuel cards, payroll and regulatory reports each add a defined integration and its edge cases.
On a 30-minute call an engineer reviews these drivers with you and tells you what a sensible first phase would include.
Book a discovery callCommon questions about Fleet & telematics
Can you use the GPS trackers we already have?
Usually, yes. If your trackers report to a vendor platform, we integrate through its API or data feed. If they can send data directly, we ingest it over their native protocol. Replacing hardware only makes sense when current devices can't supply the data you need.
Do we need CAN bus data, or is GPS enough?
GPS alone covers location, trips, speed and geofencing. Fuel use, engine faults, odometer and engine hours need CAN bus data, through OBD-II in light vehicles or J1939 in heavy ones. We decide per use case which data justifies the extra hardware.
How is driver behavior measured?
From accelerometer and GPS events: harsh braking, harsh acceleration, sharp cornering, speeding against the road limit and excessive idling. Thresholds are set per vehicle class, and scores are weighted by distance so a few short trips don't distort them.
Can drivers use the app without mobile coverage?
Yes. We build driver apps offline-first: jobs, checklists and proof-of-delivery photos are stored on the phone and sync when coverage returns, with conflicts resolved on the server.
Can the system produce hours-of-service and compliance reports?
Yes, we build the trip logs, driver records and reports your regulator requires. In markets where the logging device itself must be registered, such as the US FMCSA ELD rule, we integrate with registered ELD hardware rather than replace it.
Have you built fleet software before?
We have built the closest building blocks and both are live: 3Di Nexus, an iOS field-operations app with shift and duty tracking, incident logging and assigned locations on a map, and the Palvin Organics delivery app, which runs subscriptions, billing and delivery routes. A dedicated telematics case study is still to come.
