Edge software engineering, from device to dashboard
Trakshym is an edge software engineering consultancy. We build the software behind connected operations, from gateway code and device protocols to cloud backends, dashboards and mobile apps, across six capabilities: IoT platforms, fleet telematics, industrial automation, asset tracking, connected healthcare and applied AI. Our team works remotely from India for clients worldwide.
What is edge software engineering?
It is building the software that runs next to machines, on gateways, vehicles, plant networks and devices, together with the cloud platform and apps they report to. The edge part decides what data exists and how reliable it is; the cloud part decides what people can do with it.

Why one team for the edge and the cloud?
Most connected-device problems show up at the boundary between layers. One team owning both removes that boundary, with tradeoffs worth weighing.
| Edge + cloud from one team | Separate firmware, cloud and app vendors | |
|---|---|---|
| Interfaces between layers | Designed once by the same engineers; message formats and failure handling are agreed internally. | Negotiated between vendors; each contract defines its own boundary. |
| Tracing a data gap | One team follows it from device log to dashboard. | Each vendor checks its own layer first, so finding the root cause can take longer. |
| Specialist depth | Broad across the stack; custom electronics design stays with your hardware partner. | Each vendor can go deeper in its single layer. |
| Coordination | One contract, one roadmap, one point of contact. | Several contracts and roadmaps for you to coordinate. |
| Supplier dependence | Higher reliance on one supplier, offset by documentation and a planned handover. | Lower reliance on any single supplier. |
Building something without devices?
We also design and build web apps, mobile apps, AI features, cloud infrastructure and UI/UX for products that never touch a sensor.
Common questions about our capabilities
What is the difference between your capabilities and your services?
Capabilities are the operational domains where we build device-to-cloud systems: IoT platforms, fleet, industrial, assets, healthcare and applied AI. Services are the general disciplines (custom software, web, mobile, AI/ML, cloud and UI/UX) we offer for any product, connected or not.
Which capability fits our project?
Most projects span more than one. A fleet platform often includes asset tracking and an AI model for maintenance; a factory project often includes an IoT platform. Describe the problem on a discovery call and we'll map it; one team covers all six.
Do you design hardware?
Our work is software: gateway and device-side code, cloud backends, dashboards and apps. For custom electronics we work alongside your hardware team or manufacturer, and we help choose off-the-shelf gateways and sensors when you don't have them yet.
Can you add edge processing to a cloud-only IoT system?
Yes. We move filtering, buffering and local rules onto gateways in stages, keeping the existing cloud interfaces until the new path is proven. The usual gains are fewer gaps during outages and less data sent and stored.
Do you take on pilots, or only full platforms?
Both. Many engagements start with one device type, one production line or one depot as a pilot, which tests the approach on real data before a larger commitment. The pilot is built to be extended, not thrown away.
How does a project with Trakshym start?
With a 30-minute discovery call with an engineer. If there is a fit, a short planning stage follows that produces an architecture sketch, a phased roadmap and milestones before the main build begins.
Tell us what's running at your edge.
A 30-minute call with an engineer, not a salesperson. You leave with a scoped next step, whether or not we work together.
